Welcome to Libre Grow
Libre Grow is a free, open-source platform for tracking everything that happens in your garden. Whether you are sowing seeds, building compost, testing soil, or saving seed for next season, Libre Grow gives you one place to record it all and see how every action connects to what came before.
Who is Libre Grow for?
- Home gardeners who want to remember what worked, what failed, and why.
- Community gardens that need a shared record across multiple plots and volunteers.
- Market growers tracking varieties, yields, and soil health season after season.
- Seed savers maintaining provenance from harvest through cleaning, testing, and redistribution.
Provenance: the thread through your garden
The core idea behind Libre Grow is provenance — every action links to what came before it. A seed lot connects to the plant it was harvested from. That plant connects to the bed it grew in. The bed connects to the compost that built it. When you follow a Method like Seed Saving — Tomato or Hot Composting, the platform records each step so the full story is always traceable.
This means you can start at any Element — a seed packet, a garden bed, a compost pile — and walk backwards through its entire history, or forwards to see everything that resulted from it.
How Libre Grow is organised
Your account belongs to a Hub (your garden group or organisation). Inside each Hub you create Workspaces to organise your growing seasons or projects. Within a Workspace you record Activities (things you do), track Elements (things you grow and manage), capture Observations (structured data), and write in your Journal (your garden diary).
Free 4-week course
New to the platform? Libre Grow includes a free 4-week guided course that walks you through setting up your garden, recording your first Activities, and building a growing season from scratch. You will find it under Training in your Hub dashboard.
