Libre Grow

People

Libre Grow is built around the growers who use it. The People features help you set up your profile, discover other growers, and stay connected with the community.

Your Profile

Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select Profile to edit your details:

  • Name — your display name visible across the platform.
  • Bio — a short paragraph about your growing interests. For example: "Backyard permaculture grower focused on perennial food forests and companion planting."
  • Location — where you are based (for example, "Brisbane, QLD, Australia"). Your location helps nearby growers find you and feeds into community comparisons.
  • Climate Zone — choose the zone that best describes your growing conditions: Tropical, Subtropical, Temperate, Arid, Mediterranean, Cool Temperate, or Alpine. Your climate zone powers the Insights dashboard's "What works in your climate zone" comparisons.
  • Expertise Tags — select tags that describe your skills and interests, such as permaculture, composting, seed saving, fermentation, or soil biology. Tags make you discoverable in search and help match you with relevant Hubs and Methods.

Location and Climate Zone

Your Location and Climate Zone are set during onboarding, but you can update them at any time from your profile edit page. These fields serve two purposes:

  • They make you discoverable to growers in the same region or climate.
  • They enable the aggregate community comparisons on the Insights dashboard — for example, seeing which Methods are most popular among subtropical growers or how your soil pH compares to the community average in your zone.

Both fields are optional, but filling them in gives you access to richer data and helps the whole community learn what works where.

The People Directory

Navigate to Community → People to browse the directory of all growers on the platform. You can filter by expertise tags, location, or name. Each listing shows a brief summary of the grower's bio and tags, so you can quickly find someone who shares your interest in, say, no-dig gardening or heritage tomato varieties.

Following Other Growers

When you find a grower whose work interests you, click the Follow button on their profile. Following does not require approval — it simply subscribes you to their public community updates.

Once you follow someone, their shared Activities and Journal entries appear in the Community tab on your dashboard. This is a feed of recent updates from every grower you follow, making it easy to keep up with harvest reports, composting experiments, and seed-saving results without having to visit each profile individually.

Community Tab

The Community tab on your dashboard collects updates from the growers you follow into a single, chronological feed. Each entry shows:

  • The grower's name and avatar.
  • A summary of what they shared (for example, "Recorded soil pH readings for the raised bed trial").
  • A timestamp and a link to the full Activity or Journal entry.

Use the People features to build your network, share knowledge, and learn from growers around the world.
