Libre Grow

Seed Storage & Containers

Libre Grow includes a storage system that connects your physical growing spaces and storage areas to the elements you track on the platform. Whether you need to know which seeds are in the garden shed, which seedlings are in the greenhouse, or which varieties are planted in Bed A, the storage system keeps everything mapped.

Storage Locations

A storage location represents a place where you keep things. Create locations that match your real-world setup:

  • Shed — seed packets, tools, soil amendments.
  • Greenhouse — seed trays, propagation modules, overwintering pots.
  • Kitchen — sprouting jars, windowsill herb pots, saved seed drying on trays.
  • Garage — bulk compost bags, spare pots, netting.

Each location can hold one or more containers.

Containers as Beds & Plots

In Libre Grow, containers are not limited to jars and boxes. A container is any defined space that holds elements. This makes the system ideal for mapping garden infrastructure:

ContainerLocationWhat It Holds
Raised Bed AZone 1 — Kitchen GardenLettuce, radish, spring onion elements
Herb SpiralZone 2 — Perennial AreaThyme, oregano, sage elements
Zone 2 OrchardZone 2 — Perennial AreaApple, pear, plum tree elements

Propagation Tray 1GreenhouseTomato and pepper seedlings

Vessel Types

When creating a container you select a vessel type that describes its form. Vessel types include raised bed, ground plot, pot, seed tray, storage box, jar, and bag. Choosing the right vessel type helps Libre Grow display appropriate fields. For instance, a raised bed prompts for dimensions and soil depth, while a seed tray prompts for cell count.

Placing Elements into Containers

To record where an element is, open the element and click Place in Container. Select the location, then the container. You can also do this in bulk from the container view by scanning or selecting multiple elements at once. When an element moves (for example, a seedling goes from the greenhouse propagation tray to Raised Bed A), update its placement and Libre Grow keeps a full movement history.

Connecting Storage to Element Tracking

The storage system ties directly into Libre Grow's element tracking. Every element page shows its current container and location. Every container page shows what is inside it right now and what was there previously. This two-way link means you can answer questions like "Where are my saved pea seeds?" and "What is currently planted in the herb spiral?" without leaving the platform.
