Workspaces

A workspace is a shared working area that lives inside a hub. It is where your group organises day-to-day growing work, coordinates tasks, and keeps a running journal of observations. Every hub can contain multiple workspaces, so a community garden hub might have separate workspaces for "Vegetable Plot", "Orchard", and "Composting".

Workspace Dashboard

When you open a workspace you land on the Overview tab. This dashboard gives you an at-a-glance summary of everything happening in the workspace:

  • Recent journal entries
  • Upcoming and overdue tasks
  • Latest activities
  • Scheduled meetings

From the overview you can jump straight into any section with a single click.

Journal

The journal is a chronological feed of posts and entries. Use it to share observations, upload photos, or note something that does not fit neatly into a formal activity record. For example: "Heavy rain overnight, standing water in Bed C this morning — may need to improve drainage before autumn planting." Hub members can comment on journal entries to discuss next steps.

Activities Section

The activities section lists every activity linked to this workspace. You can create new activities directly from here, and they will automatically be associated with the workspace. Filter by date, method, or element to find specific records quickly.

Task Board

The task board helps your group stay on top of practical work. Each task has:

FieldDescriptionExample
TitleWhat needs doingTurn compost heap 3
AssigneeWho is responsibleKevin
PriorityLow, Medium, High, or UrgentHigh
DependenciesTasks that must finish firstOrder compost activator
Due dateDeadline for completion5 April 2026

Drag tasks between columns (To Do, In Progress, Done) to update their status. The overview tab highlights anything overdue so nothing slips through the cracks.

Meetings

Schedule meetings for your hub directly from the workspace. Each meeting record includes:

  • Date, time, and location (on-site at the garden, or a video link).
  • Agenda and notes — write these before or during the meeting.
  • Action items — these convert into tasks on the task board with one click, so decisions are tracked from discussion through to completion.

Workspaces bring journal entries, activities, tasks, and meetings into a single place, giving your hub a clear, shared picture of what has been done, what is happening now, and what needs attention next.
